To love yourself does not mean to be arrogant, conceited or selfish. It is not to put others down because you think you are better. To love yourself, and I mean really love yourself fully- is to care for your mind, body and soul. To cherish your life and your abilities and live to your maximum potential. To love yourself today is to break free of all the ideas that bind you to unhappiness and take up a life of freedom and joy.
So how do you make that choice to love yourself and by doing so ultimately build self-esteem?
Let's look at what goes on before any of this happens- what has probably been happening to you for years...
You open a magazine, flick through the pages and there! - Thin, seemingly perfect models oozing confidence and style. Instantly the voice in your head goes into overdrive.
- Why can't I be like her?
- How can I be like her?
- I'll never be like her....
We've all been there before, I know I have a thousand times- and not just with body image- with everything else about myself as well.
But what if it didn't need to be like that? What if today you just decided to stop thinking that way?
Okay- so it's not that easy...but with a bit of time and learning, you can be happier and healthier in body, mind and spirit.
You can start to celebrate your individuality.
For some, Building self-esteem and learning to love yourself is like asking them to trek through Antarctica with no warm clothing. Impossible! They just can't see that you already have inside of you every tool you need for confidence. You just have to know where to look, how to improve what you've already got and get the right support along the way. When you have that it won't seem impossible anymore.
I believe confidence is a state of mind. It's about knowing who you are, your likes and dislikes, your dreams and fears and embracing them in every way imaginable. Get what you want and need out of your life!
